Kind of like how colour Pertwees were still running here in the US while the PAL masters have already been wiped.

When you saw it on VHS, was it from the PAL release? I would be very curious to see an NTSC sourced video of these episodes to see how they compare to the re-converted PAL ones used on this DVD release.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13946848534077648713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482477005027998350.post-12031981270634630402012-04-03T11:39:11.339-05:002012-04-03T11:39:11.339-05:00I don't know if the Beeb ever checked but Moon...I don't know if the Beeb ever checked but Moonbase 3 was shown here in Canada in the early 70s, so perhaps copies could still exist in a TV archive here. I always remember watching the show as a teenager and enjoying it and then saw it again on VHS many years later. My overbiding memory of seeing it years later - I have the DVD but not watched it yet - was that the show was good, but terribly slow and the plots dragged a lot. I think "Star Cops" which could almost be considered a remake, was far better but still I'd recommend Moonbase 3 to anyone interested in archive British TV.CdnBobhttp://www.whotopia.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482477005027998350.post-32984587813672407792012-04-03T07:56:07.301-05:002012-04-03T07:56:07.301-05:00Moonbase 3, to me, is a nice curios. Not a series I really go back to on a regular basis.

I am trying to keep an open mind to Yes, prime Minister but I fall into the the same category as you. I just don't know why we would need to have a new series with those characters.

Like I said, I am trying to keep an open mind but after re-reading my comments, clearly I am not.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13946848534077648713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482477005027998350.post-77741622721740117382012-04-01T15:29:35.674-05:002012-04-01T15:29:35.674-05:00Moonbase 3 sounds like an entertaining bit of fun,...Moonbase 3 sounds like an entertaining bit of fun, will have to check it out sometime. As for the revival of Yes, Prime Minister, I have just one question.

Why?

Ok, so the stage play was successful enough and the premise is as sound as ever, but why revisit it on television? Some things, once made, should be allowed to live in peace. At least give it new characters, since Jim Hacker, Sir Humphrey and Bernard Woolley were all so perfectly cast that I cannot see anyone successfully recreating the magic. (At this point I look over at Martin Clunes and say "You were ok, but no one will ever confuse you for Leonard Rossiter.")

Anyway, enough ranting. I will give it a chance, but will not expect a miracle of comedy.Dave Gnoreply@blogger.com
